Comfortable country cottage
Grace Cottage really lives up to expectations; it's comfortable, clean and the owner has left a wealth of reference books about the area for visitors to make use of. The garden is lovely too, being all round 3 sides of the cottage, with pretty flowers and lawns. Sydling St Nicholas is a very quaint village and we enjoyed visiting The Greyhound Inn in the village.
Pretty, comfortable and quiet.
A lovely cottage in a beautiful village and area. Owner was extremely helpful and welcoming, with some lovely treats waiting for us on arrival. None of our family of five wanted to leave! We'll be back.
Vicky was very pleasant to deal with and she and her family were welcome visitors. I was very happy to hear she, her husband and three young boys enjoyed their stay so much.
Comfortable and well equipped cottage
Very comfortable and warm. Everything necessary supplied ( except a serving spoon) !! Lovely quiet and totally unspoilt village, and the Greyhound local pub/restaurant really excellent.
These visitors were most pleasant to deal with and would be welcome back at any time. I was sorry to hear there was no serving spoon during their stay as there are plenty of utensils in the well-equipped kitchen, something that has often been remarked on. However, I did find that the two serving spoons had gone missing, and they have now been replaced.
A fantastic place to stay for a quiet family holiday.
Grace Cottage is a lovely place to stay with ample space for a family of five. It was very clean and well looked after with a spacious kitchen and pleasant living spaces. The garden is beautifully maintained and there is space for young children to run around. The owner was great at staying in touch during our visit and even made sure that there were a few creature comforts for us on arrival. The only problem we encountered with the property was poor water pressure with the downstairs shower. There is a good sized green field literally outside the front door which provides even more space for kids to play on. My son loved the stream that runs along the side of the field and playing “Pooh Sticks” over the little bridge. There was also a great playground around the corner. The village of Sydling St. Nicholas is very picturesque and The Greyhound pub is five minutes walk away if you need a drink or a bite to eat. There are lots of things to do within 45 minutes drive and it was easy to keep our son occupied during our stay. I would definitely recommend it to others and will strongly consider a return visit in the future. Thank you for a lovely holiday!
It’s a great pleasure hearing that people have thoroughly enjoyed their time in Sydling - we try to do everything we can to make things comfortable for the visitors. The easy bit is to let the beauty of the countryside and charm of the village work their magic!
A lovely cottage in a lovely village!
We so enjoyed our stay in Grace Cottage! We stayed there 21 years ago, I am sorry it took us so long to get back! The cottage is comfortable, cozy, has everything you need and is in an idyllic Dorset village. The pub had great food and the whole staff was wonderful and added another dimension to our visit. It was so nice to return to the cottage after a full day of exploring and just toddle over to The Greyhound for a delicious meal and great fun. Grace Cottage is within an hour or so to many wonderful things to see and do. We have decided that Dorset is our favorite area of England, and Grace Cottage is a wonderful pied de terre. Thanks, Emily, for sharing your delightful cottage.
Having come from the US it was especially good to hear Kate and her group had enjoyed being back in Sydling. She first came to the cottage in the 1990s and her happy memories brought her back all these years later.
A most comfortable cottage with plenty of room for 4. The garden is enclosed if you have a dog which this cottage accepts although on this occasion my dogs stayed at home. The pub is within easy walking distance and serves a good selection of ales and varied menu. Sydling St Nicholas is a quiet village with a laid back and easy pace of life which, in this day and age, is commendable.
It was good news that Raymond enjoyed his stay as he has loved the area faithfully from the time he worked down here many years ago. He even dreamt of buying in Sydling but his career took him back to Scotland. We do hope he will come back.
Coast / Beach:
