To 50 kilometers from Cordoba, our cottage is located in an area known as 'Los Pedroches', Next to our cottage there are numerous ecological olive groves and beautiful pastureland of oaks or ''dehesas', dairy cattle and Iberian pigs witch give selected “ pata negra ham” with Designation of Origin 'Los Pedroches'. Our olives were the first to take the ecological certification throughout Europe and our olive oil is prized worldwide, it is exquisite
The cottage of our family is in the gentle mountains of Sierra Morena, in Cordoba. Our pleasant rustic house combines traditional elements very well. A very interesting alternative to stay in the middle of nature.
Our cottage has six bedrooms, a large living room with fireplace, a bathroom and two toilets, a lovely private pool and barbecue.
You can go hiking and observing nature and especially watching birds in this area virgin and little known of Andalusia. Throughout the year you can see many birds, raptors like owls, golden eagles, vultures, great diversity of waterfowl, cranes, herons, storks and a variety of small birds and many other birds. Children can enjoy our property because we have a few donkeys.
At 50 km is the natural park of Cardeña, the last place where the iberian Linx lives, this is endangered species.
The cottage is a great place to relax or to make visits to our area or to visit historic cities like Cordoba, Seville and Granada. Our region worthwhile for small provincial trips into Cordoba, and many festivals are organized preferably in the spring and summer.
Nearby are charming mountain villages and in our area of Los Pedroches is a small historical heritage (especially the Sotomayor's Castle), fifteenth century, in Belalcázar, about a hundred kilometers from Cordoba, direction Extremadura.
We recommend a visit to our cottage throughout the year, in autumn and winter by the charm of the fireplace and the harvesting of the olives but mainly during the spring, where the field is with many flowers and there are many festivals and Cordoba, especially “Los Patios” and in summer is the time when the pool is open.
The areas that you can visit are:
Andalucia:
Our house is near Cordoba, with the Mosque, Medina Azahara and the Royal Alcazars as major monuments with a Muslim strong flavor. Cordoba was called the city of three cultures: Muslim, Jewish and Christian. The holidays are the most popular Cruces, Los Patios and the Feria de Cordoba, all held in May. The main months in Córdoba. If you view Córdoba in May, you will repeat again.
Major purchases are cordovan crafts, extra virgin olive oil, ceramics and conventual pastry.
We can also visit Sevilla, which has the cathedral and the Giralda The Alcázar facing the district of Santa Cruz. The main festival is the Seville April Fair.
Granada must visit for only one thing, to see the Alhambra, a magnificent Moorish palace. With its kasbah and its gardens. Also very interesting Albaizin their neighborhoods and the Sacromonte.
Also from our farmhouse you can visit Ubeda and Baeza, both cities are world heritage for being the Andalusian Renaissance jewelry, plus other interesting cities of Malaga and 'Costa del Sol' are Antequera, Ronda, Ecija, etc.
Our region:
Our region is attractive for a myriad of reasons, we have Cardeña Montoro Natural Park is the biggest reserve of Iberian lynx in Spain, our 17 villages are unique in that when the border area Mancha and Extremadura, have characteristics of the three regions.
We also offer delicious cuisine, derived from the Iberian pig, with designation of origin for their hams, we also have excellent veal and lamb, and good cheese, and an organic oil extracted from the olive groves of the Sierra.
Our nature is very graceful as they have different habitats, such as the meadow and steppe areas where cranes feed in winter. There are also areas of pure Mediterranean forest, near our farmhouse.
The next mountains and our environment:
We are in Sierra Morena, Sierra de Los Pedroches has 10,000 hectares of organic olive groves shows people here did a great job to plant as many olive trees, these trees today are mostly organic farms, because the low profitability of these trees.
Because of the steep slopes in some areas was not possible to plant anything, so in these areas the Mediterranean forest remains pure. These areas can be visited by the village of Eagle Rock, this trail once united the peoples of Obejo and Pozoblanco. Today is a nice walk where besides a wonderful panoramic view can be seen even from the Civil War trenches.
