My wife and I travelled with our two sons (17 and 19) to explore Scotland, we had a rental car, so we did not spend too much time at the apartment indeed.
The apartment entrance is at the main house back door, accessing a small lobby which is shared with the main house, so it is easy to meet the lovely owners any time. The staircase is narrow and steep, not feasible for people with limited mobility unfortunately. There is plenty of space for parking a car, and the property is just 10 minutes away by car to one of the many park-and-ride facilities around Edinburgh.
It is spacious enough for four people, it was created by splitting the upper floor of the main house. The bathroom has been refurbished recently, the two rooms and the living room are quite spacious with plenty of natural light through wide windows. There are nice views of the Georgian house gardens and surroundings from each and every room.
The kitchen might not be equipped for proper cooking – e.g. the smoke extractor is small and in the opposite wall of the kitchen electric stove - but it is good enough to cook basic stuff.
There is a Wi-Fi network to access the internet, but it was very slow though.
The property is huge and in the middle of the forest, hence very quiet and allows for nice walks or jogging any time of the day. We did not need to heat the apartment, but there are some fireplaces and also radiators everywhere.
Helen and Jamie are very nice and friendly.
