Several issues: 1) NOT ONE floor in the house is level. We took videos of a small cylinder about 6 inches long we let go at one end of each room; the cylinder rolled all the way across the room each time. Even the steps on the narrow, steep staircase were slanted. Placed on one side of a stair, the cylinder rolled across the step to the wall on the other side.
2) The beds were uncomfortably hard. They did not have any box springs, making it feel like sleeping on bumpy sand at the beach.
3) The TV had listings for hundreds of channels, yet basic, popular stations such as ESPN and CNN were unavailable, requiring a subscription that the owners evidently had not purchased.
4) The online photos of the living room/dining area were misleading, as they depicted a couple of armchairs in the middle of the room but no such chairs were there. In fact, the living/dining room combo included a dining room table with its dining chairs and a small couch in front of the TV, but no other places to sit in the large vacant space remaining.
5) The online photos also misrepresented the backyard. It doesn't exist. The area directly behind the cottage is the two-space parking area, paved in asphalt. It is not a useable backyard. The online photo that purports to be the backyard is actually the backyard of the cottage next door. A tall white fence separates it from this cottage's parking spots.
6) The bathroom is located directly in front of you once you ascend the staircase, but the floor from the top of the stairs to the bathroom door is slanted so you must walk UPHILL to enter the bathroom. The newer hardwood floor at the top of the stairs and that of the bedroom to the right of the bathroom appears to have been installed quite amateurishly. The ends of the floorboards abutting the bathroom threshold are unevenly cut. The floorboards at the entrance to that adjacent bedroom are so much higher than the floor outside it that the owner has affixed red tape to the floor to warn of the tripping hazard. 7) Cracks and peeling of ceiling sheetrock indicate it was likely installed by an unskilled do-it-yourselfer. In sum, this place is not safe--especially for the elderly--and significant online photo representations of its features are false.
