Don't Be A Victim
This unit was uninhabitable and unsafe upon our arrival and the owner’s negligence and unethical practices were appalling.
Upon arrival we entered a unit that was filled with water damage. The walls, windows and door frames all had water stains. The carpet was black with mold. The entertainment center was so severally rotted, rusted, and damaged that it warranted replacement. The air quality was poor, as the unit smelled stale and musty. In addition to the water stains on the walls, window frames and sliding door tract areas, these areas also housed excessive dirt, leaves, and bugs thus providing more evidence of structural repair negligence. Spider webs were thick on the walls, furniture and drapes. Live spiders were found on the walls. The
refrigerator needs repair. The freezer was lined with at least 1” of frost build-up on all the sides. The freezer still had frozen foods in it. The couch cover had soiled blood stains on it. The wooden bed slats to hold the mattress up on the bed frame were broken. Splintered wood pieces along with dead bugs were under the bed. The BBQ on the patio was home to a pack of cigarettes and an empty soda bottle that was used to hold
previously smoked cigarette butts. We have 22 photos documenting the stated claims.
After an initial inspection of the unit we vacated it. VRBO was provided pictures and the owner was contacted. The unit was rented for 15 days. Owner took no responsibility for her negligence. Responses were always excuses, for example: 1)
It’s a holiday weekend, no one available for 3 days. 2) I was busy doing my taxes I couldn’t get back to you. Owner offered no assistance in finding alternate accommodations as we were not able to stay in her uninhabitable unit. Owner admitted to the severally rotted entertainment center and had the entertainment
center removed and replaced. She even took the time to add the new picture to her listing. Don’t be fooled. The water damaged and molded carpet, walls, and refrigerator are all still there. She didn’t fix the problem, she just covered it up.
We spent less than an hour in this unit, had we stayed longer I’m certain the list of neglected items within this rental unit would prove to be endless.
The Owner breached her contract, she neglected her duties and she solidified her unethical business standards and lack of morals when she kept our money for a 15 night stay as she stood firm to her “No Refund” policy.
