Beautiful and relaxing
Beautiful and relaxing environment.
Amazing house with all the conditions and more. Perfect for families with children as well.
peace and tranquillity
If you want to get away from it all and be surrounded by nature, this is perfect. Our stay was everything we wanted it to be, pure escapism.
The log house is so spacious and very comfortable and the aspect from the lounge patio doors is fabulous, I saw red squirrels, deer and various bird species.
It felt a wrench to leave....
A visit worth making
This place is so much more than we hoped for. The area is beautiful, the village of Kirkmichael is very quaint, and the owner- Richard Davie is prompt and very organized. The house comes with a 20 some page" How To " manual. The fireplace in the living room was a nice touch on even a cool Aug. evening. There is a nice little pub in the inn just down the street. I have been sorry I booked some HomeAway locations, but you will not be sorry you booked this one.
A wonderful family holiday - excellent log cabin in a great location.
Our family group of 7 (plus dog!) enjoyed a fantastic summer holiday at this log cabin. We stayed for 13 nights and enjoyed wall-to-wall sunshine. The accommodation is very spacious and comfortable and proved to be an ideal base for exploring this part of Scotland.
We explored the immediate surroundings on foot and on bikes and spotted lots of deer, red squirrels and buzzards. The other log cabins in the area are well spaced so the cabin feels secluded and very private. We enjoyed lots of walking in the wider region and because of the fantastic weather we became avid river swimmers - finding great spots to swim all over the place.
Highlights of the holiday included trips to Pitlochry, to Braemar and to the giant trees at the Hermitage near Dunkeld. We bagged our first two Munro's near Glenshee and we all enjoyed swimming at the Linn of Dee, near Braemar. What a special place to walk and swim. We would also recommend Blairgowrie Evangelical Church - which we visited on both sundays.
Richard provided a very thorough visitors guide and his communication was excellent.
We heartily recommend this log cabin. Watching England win a few World Cup football matches was an unexpected bonus!
Stayed with family enjoyed staying in cottage throughly
Secluded and beautiful
The pictures don’t do justice to the location of this place. The house is deceptively large with more than enough space inside and out for a family of five and a dog. It’s well situated to visit so many places and a well equipped kitchen meant meals or BBQ’s were easy. We ate outside most of the time on the huge round table that would easily seat 8 or more. We loved the 70’s vibe of the cabin. The house sometimes felt like a ship, as the wood creaked and cracked with changes in temperature.
I hadn’t twigged that there was no WiFi at the cabin or indeed phone signal, this was gutting at first but once we got used the idea,it gave us a fabulous opportunity to connect with each other instead. We played games (could do with a few more, given the lack of internet), made jigsaw puzzles and went for some long walks directly from the cabin. There’s tons of Ordanance survey maps you can use at the cabin.
Any downsides? Well, WiFi, if this is an important requirement to you.
I think the microwave was from the 70’s, colossal in size and baffled us all with it’s dizzying dashboard that made no sense. We were unable to use it.
The Dining table is beautiful but the chairs are too low, making sitting at the table feel like you are a small child that can’t quite reach. The lighting is pretty inadequate in the kitchen and Dining area and we needed lights on during the day. None of this detracted in any way from the wonderful time we had and we would certainly stay again.
I would have liked to have seen a visitors book at the place, mainly because I enjoy reading other people’s stories and ideas for places to visit.
