Lovely updated interior. But a few issues.
I did have some problems hearing back from the owner in a timely manner. The day before we were ready to leave (after sending several emails, saying I needed to know about how to get in), I finally got an email response. Phew. Overall, the accommodations were lovely and comfortable. However, I was specifically looking for a place that had a fireplace for our anniversary weekend. It's a part of the ambiance, of course and advertised as such. And, the living area had multiple large windows on one wall with no blinds to hold in heat or make it more "cozy" so I was looking forward to the fireplace. Well, the fireplace did not work (it was gas not wood). And I didn't find this out right away. There were no instructions on how to turn on the fireplace or which remote to use, so I looked for a manual and nothing was said about the fireplace. I grabbed what I presumed to be the remote and still it didn't work. I thought it was me not using the right remote. I then texted the owner and he sent over his maintenance person. We waited for him to figure out it wasn't working at all, and couldn't be repaired in the time we were there. This was a huge disappointment; the time spent trying to figure it out, waiting for maintenance, it was disruptive. I would have thought the place was checked out before the any guests arrived, to be sure it was in working order. Needless to say, it was a big disappointment. The middle of cold February, in the woods and no fireplace :(
